The Delegate Assembly

The primary body declaring the will of Student Representatives across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

What is the Delegate Assembly?

The Delegate Assembly gives every Student Representative a voice and every district a vote on how MASR works to approach the challenges of education and school governance.

FAQ’s About the Delegate Assembly

  • The Delegate Assembly is the collective body of MASR and is composed of 1 student representative from each district in the Commonwealth. It meets annually in the fall to make decisions on a variety of matters.

  • Every year, each of the school committees in the state are granted one seat (vote) in the Delegate Assembly.

This ensures that every district, regardless of size, has equal representation in the decision-making process. If there are multiple Student Representatives in a given district, they will be responsible for internally deciding who their delegate will be, but all Student Representatives are allowed to speak on resolutions, ask questions, and partake in discussion.

  • The Delegate Assembly officially meets only once per year, at our annual Fall Conference. This is because a majority of the maintenance of the Association will be taken up by the Executive Board and their team in between conferences.

  • The Delegate Assembly will be responsible for making major decisions about the direction and positions of the Association, including voting on resolutions, MASR’s Strategic Vision, MASR’s Legislative Priorities, and voting on the members of the Executive Board leadership.
